    • Keep product label for scannable QR code to see installation

Step 2

    • Press firmly and evenly
    • Work out air bubbles immediately

Step 3
Step 3: GROUT

    • Use diagonal strokes
    • Clean excess quickly
    • Allow proper curing time

Application Guidelines

Important: TileHolder is designed for interior use only. Not recommended for outdoor applications, ceilings, floors, or areas constantly exposed to water. Tiles over 8"×8" or 3.5 lbs/sq ft may require additional support.

Professional Installation Guide

Follow these expert guidelines for optimal TileHolder results

1

Surface Preparation & Requirements

Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dirt, grease, wax, or oil. Pre-cut tiles to accurately fit area for best results. Please make sure the tile is dry and free of any debris or dirt before installing as the dust will prevent proper bonding.

    • Clean with degreasing agent if necessary
    • Allow surfaces to dry completely
    • Remove any loose paint or wallpaper
    • Test adhesion on small area first

2

Application Best Practices

Work in manageable sections. Carefully align tiles and press firmly in place with even pressure across the entire surface.

    • Apply even pressure across tile surface
    • Check alignment frequently during installation
    • Tiles should be flat on back for full contact
    • Work systematically section by section

3

Grouting & Finishing

May be grouted immediately or within 24 hours of installation. No waiting for adhesive cure time required.

    • No cure time needed - grout when ready
    • Use standard grouting techniques
    • Keep spare tiles for future replacements
    • Clean excess grout promptly

4

Important Limitations

Not for outdoor use, ceilings, floors, or areas constantly exposed to water. Tiles over 8"×8" or 3.5 lbs/sq ft not recommended.

Get answers to common questions about TileHolder installation and applications

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the exposed mat stay sticky?

The exposed TileHolder adhesive maintains full tackiness for up to 24 hours in clean, dry conditions. Minimize exposure to dust and debris during this window. For optimal bond strength, install tiles as soon as possible after removing the release liner.

How long do I have to install tile once the mat has been applied to the wall?

Install tiles immediately after removing the protective liner from TileHolder's adhesive surface for optimal bond strength. If the protective liner remains in place, the adhesive stays protected from dust, dirt, and debris, allowing flexible installation scheduling up to 48 hours. **Important:** Once tiles are placed on TileHolder, complete grouting within 24 hours of tile installation for best results.

Can TileHolder mat be repositioned on the wall or can I reposition tiles on the mat?

Yes, TileHolder allows for repositioning during installation. Once tiles are placed, they can be adjusted before pressure is applied. Once pressure is applied, the tiles will be very difficult to reposition. The TileHolder has an aggressive adhesive on both sides.

What's the actual coverage of a 12" × 15' roll?

Each Standard Roll provides 15 square feet of coverage (12 inches wide × 15 feet long = 15 sq ft). The roll includes approximately 4 inches of material that remains on the core for handling, which is factored into our coverage calculations.

Can TileHolder be installed behind stoves and cooktops?

Yes, TileHolder is suitable for kitchen backsplash applications behind stoves and cooktops. The adhesive withstands normal cooking temperatures. However, maintain standard clearances from heat sources as required by local building codes.

Why can't I use TileHolder on floors?

TileHolder is engineered specifically for vertical wall applications. Floor installations require different adhesive properties to handle foot traffic, structural loads, and potential moisture exposure that exceed TileHolder's design parameters.

Is TileHolder suitable for rental properties and temporary installations?

While TileHolder creates a permanent bond, it's excellent for rental properties because it eliminates the mess and complexity of traditional mortar mixing. However, removal may require tile replacement, so consider this for temporary applications.

How do I install metal trim (like Schluter® edging) with TileHolder?

TileHolder supports tiles up to 8" × 8" and maximum 3.5 lbs per square foot. This covers most standard ceramic, porcelain, and glass mosaic tiles used in backsplash and accent wall applications.

Can I use TileHolder in shower areas?

Yes, TileHolder is waterproof and suitable for shower walls when properly sealed with TileHolder Waterproofing Seam Tape at all joints. Not recommended for shower floors or areas with direct water impact like shower heads.

What tile sizes and weights work best with TileHolder?

TileHolder supports tiles up to 8" × 8" and maximum 3.5 lbs per square foot. This covers most standard ceramic, porcelain, and glass mosaic tiles used in backsplash and accent wall applications.
