Gradus Limited

Gradus Limited has over 30 years of experience in the design and manufacture of stair and floor trims and provides a range of profiles to meet both the functional and aesthetic requirements of any commercial or public location. Optimum Technologies is Gradus' United States Partner.

Why flooring accessories are so important...

...For safety

Any staircase poses a potential slip or trip hazard to the public. The use of correct Gradus edgings can mean the difference between a safe working or public environment and costly accident insurance claims.

...For design

Good choice of colors and materials is required to match the extensive choice of flooring materials now available.

...For hygiene

Floor to wall joins may prove difficult to clean and encourage bacteria if the appropriate skirting method is not used.

Specifying stair edgings

Stair edgings should:

  1. Act as a visual contrast to the step edge
  2. Provide a safe reassuring feel underfoot
  3. Prevent the premature wear of carpet or smooth floor coverings.

Specifying flooring trims

Where height differences in floor coverings are encountered, a hardwearing transition strip is required. The trims should be adaptable to accommodate the different heights of floor coverings.

Specifying floor to wall accessories

Skirtings and capping seals are used to protect the base of the wall and allow easy cleaning of the floor to wall join.  They are used extensively in hospitals, food processing plants and pharmaceutical establishments where ease of maintenance and hygiene is of paramount importance. PVC covered skirtings are easy to clean and set-in sections fitted flush with the floor covering may be welded for maximum impermeability.
